Ebner Camps, Inc., (dba Camp Awosting, Camp Chinqueka, Boulder Ridge Day Camp and The Village at Boulder Ridge), was recently honored as a finalist at the 2006 Connecticut Family Business of the Year Awards. The celebration was held Nov. 16, 2006 at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Nominated by the Avon Chamber of Commerce, Ebner Camps was one of nine family businesses recognized this year out of more than 1300 nominations. The Connecticut Family Business of the Year Awards recognizes those family businesses that embody core family values and the best of American free enterprise. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges, with placements announced on the evening of the awards ceremony. Finalists are evaluated based on business success, positive family and business linkage, multi-generational family involvement, dynamic contributions to community and industry, and innovative business practices or strategies.

The Connecticut Family Business of the Year Awards are sponsored annually by The University of Connecticut Family Business Program, which is dedicated to helping family businesses develop strategies and policies that will serve to perpetuate family ownership while making significant advances in functions related to business strategy, increased complexity, organizational structure, management practices, diligence and succession planning.
