We pride ourselves on the principles of
healthy competition. Poor sportsmanship is not tolerated at Awosting.

Field Sports - Basketball,
Baseball, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Soccer
You can
always join a game at Awosting! We have a baseball diamond, sand
volleyball court, football/soccer field, and several basketball
courts. Our counselors don’t just watch, they play and coach with
the campers. Volleyball tournaments against the girls of
Camp Chinqueka
are also scheduled each summer. |
Tennis
Future U.S. Open champions can be seen daily on Awosting's tennis
courts. Campers receive instruction and can participate in tennis
tournaments, camp-wide tennis ladders, and coed matches with the
girls from Camp Chinqueka. Additionally, campers may sign up in the
afternoon elective periods to practice their skills and receive
additional instruction.
|
Golf
Perfect
your short game, hit a bucket at the driving range, and challenge a
counselor at Stony Brook golf course. Campers are taught basic
skills in the morning instruction period and given the opportunity
to show off their skills in the afternoons. |
Fencing
Are you
ready for a duel? Fencing instruction and tournaments are held
between the two camps. Even campers without any prior knowledge of
fencing can become quite skilled in the sport with just a few
lessons. |
Martial Arts
Whether
it be karate, tae kwon do, or judo, instruction is offered for those
campers with interest. Light contact competitions are also held
between those campers with the proper training.

Mountain Biking
Mountain
biking has quickly become one of the most popular activities at
camp. Trek through the wooded trails behind the cabin areas if you
are a beginner - or make your own course in the more advanced biking
sessions. Cannondale and Trek bikes are provided, but you are
welcome to bring your own cycle (storage will be provided). Come
bike the forests of the Litchfield hills - there are over 1,000+
acres just waiting for you! |
Gymnastics
The
gymnastics program offers campers an opportunity to fine-tune their
skills on the parallel bars, mat, mini-tramp, and the pommel horse.
This is an excellent activity to fine-tune motor skills, improve
balance, and build muscle. |
