Pauline and Steve Jepson have worked for Ebner Camps since 1989, where Pauline first worked as
the sailing instructor at Chinqueka and Steve as the Waterskiing counselor at Awosting. Steve went on
to be the Waterfront Director for 10 years, while Pauline worked as part of the administration at both
Awosting and Chinqueka, including being Assistant Director at Chinqueka for several summers. They are
both extremely active within the camping community, and together they bring calm leadership and experience
to Awosting. They have both been a positive influence on thousands of campers during their many years
at Ebner Camps. Steve can fix just about anything and is a fantastic role model for the Awosting boys,
where Pauline is often referred to as the "Camp Mom" (or Mum, as she would say) and is often seen
given a troubled camper a little extra attention to make him feel more comfortable.
They emigrated over from Manchester, England in 2007, where Steve ran his own business in England
for over 20 years, while Pauline worked in Education, working with troubled youth for over 15 years.
Not only are Steve and Pauline great directors, but they area also amazing parents. They have two sons,
Benjamin and Samuel, who have both grown up at Awosting and are now senior campers - very eager to join
Awosting's staff.
Pauline and Steve live on campus all summer, but maintain a year round residence about 15 miles away.
During the winter months, Pauline works in the office, talking to parents, campers and staff while
Steve runs the operations for all three of our summer camps. They both give tours of Awosting during
the summer (the best time to see camp in action) or on select Sundays in the Fall and Spring.
Buzz and Sherry Ebner are Directors Emeritus of Camp Awosting and have been together at Awosting for
over 40 years. Buzz has actually been at Awosting for over 60 years, having started as a camper at age 6 and
been on the staff since he was 16, including nearly 30 years as Director starting in 1975. Buzz earned a B.A.
in Education from Newark State College (now known as Kean University) in Union, NJ. and received his M.A. in
Vocational Education from Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. Buzz has formerly taught in the East
Orange, NJ and Newington, CT public school systems. Sherry, a CT licensed Registered Nurse, oversees the health
and food programs at both camps. She is affectionately referred to as the 'Camp Mother'. They are the "engine"
that makes Awosting run - combining caring and fun to make sure each camper is treated like one of their own
children. Buzz is a licensed camp director by the State of Connecticut.
Buzz and Sherry's three children, Kristin, Kevin, and Kurt, are co-owners of Ebner Camps. Kristin and Kevin are
Directors of Chinqueka and Boulder Ridge Day Camp, respectively.
Rachel & Ian Endersby are integral parts of Awosting's administration and have been with us for more
than 20 years. Ian first joined us from the UK as a staff member in the 1980's and came back a few summers later
with his new wife, Rachel. They have come back nearly every summer since with 3 daughters and 2 sons, all of
which have been very active members of Awosting & Chinqueka.
