Founded in 1900 and run by the Ebner family for nearly 70 years, Awosting is a traditional summer camp full of happy campers, mature, experienced and safety-conscious staff, and activities practically guaranteed to make a boy’s summer more fun!

Camp Awosting boasts a beautiful lakeside setting on Bantam Lake in the rolling hills of Connecticut. Campers stay in one of 16 cabins on the premises. At least two counselors live in each cabin with the campers.

Life at Awosting is informal and friendly. We believe it is a good thing to have some experience in all camp activities. Therefore, every camper is introduced to every activity during the morning instructional program. In the afternoon elective periods, the boys choose the activities they enjoy most or want to try – maybe even for the first time.

The Awosting Difference
Awosting is a boutique camp that emphasizes individual attention to campers by our experienced staff and camp administration. We are not a supercamp and have no desire to grow to 800 or 1,000 campers each session. We are small by design (170 campers max) and have been for our entire 117-summer history. As a parent of a first time Awosting camper, you can expect that we will watch closely over your child and report back to you with at least one phone call and possibly an email or two within the first 3 days of camp. We will let you know how your child is adjusting to camp, what they have been doing, even what they have been eating (in case that is a concern). Since we know you are trusting us with your child, it is our responsibility to ensure you are comfortable and feel that your child is safe, happy and healthy at camp. Ensuring your son has an amazing camp experience is our #1 concern.

Come experience the Awosting difference. There is a reason we have been around for 117 years, making us the oldest camp in America in continuous operation since 1900. We look forward to having your family be a part of our family for this coming summer and for many summers thereafter! Be sure to check out our sister camp for girls, Camp Chinqueka!
